Job Description
You will work in the Functional Microbiome Research Group at the Institute of Medical Microbiology of the University Hospital in Aachen. The lab operates a unique anaerobic cultivation platform that generates personalized collections of hundreds of gut microbes. You will collaborate with this team and utilize these collections in gnotobiotic experiments to study effects on the host. Additionally, you will participate in and share responsibility for the existing Gnotobiotic Unit within the group, working alongside a full-time technician and a team of animal caretakers. In this role, you will be a vital member of the lab, bridging our group and the Institute of Laboratory Animal Sciences.
Your Profile
You hold a PhD in Science and have experience working with mice, including a FELASA certificate or equivalent. Experience with gnotobiotic mice is preferred. You should have a strong interest in microbiology, especially gut microbiomes. Organizational skills and the ability to make informed decisions are essential. Teamwork and good communication skills are crucial, and you should enjoy solving challenges collaboratively. Proficiency in English (oral and written) is mandatory. Knowledge of German (oral) is advantageous for working in the animal facility.
