Category Manager with German (all genders)

Position Type: Full-time

As the Category Manager, you will develop and execute a comprehensive annual category strategy to drive business growth, including local campaign and promotional plans.

You will work closely with the Country Head to ensure alignment of the category strategy with the broader country or cluster plans, integrating Business Unit processes, LE forecasting, OBF strategy, and promotional planning.

Collaboration with central teams such as Visual Merchandising, Marketing, Pricing, and CRM will be vital to shape strategies based on local market insights.

A deep understanding of category dynamics—customers, market trends, and competitors—will help you identify growth opportunities and tackle challenges.

You will continuously analyze key KPIs across sales, category, customer, and product metrics, taking corrective actions to optimize performance.

Key responsibilities:
  • Recommend local price adjustments at the brand/product level, based on the global pricing strategy, with a focus on OBF sources.
Promotions:
  • Create a yearly promotional plan considering category trends, aligned with the central promotions team and local leadership.
  • Monitor campaign performance and budget spend.
  • Manage short-term promotions as needed.
Shelf management:
  • Contribute to product sorting strategies in collaboration with the Product team and other Category Managers.
  • Support upselling and cross-selling initiatives through product recommendations, focusing on OBF visibility.
  • Coordinate with Graphics and Shop Operations teams for banners and content QA.
KPIs:
  • Revenue and margin (Net Sales, CM1)
  • Share of wallet (AOF, AOV, Volume)
  • Customer acquisition and retention
  • Promo spend efficiency
  • Availability and out-of-stock rates
  • Traffic and conversion rates
Qualifications:
  • Relevant experience in FMCG or eCommerce, preferably in the pet sector
  • Strong commercial and technical skills, understanding core business functions
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills, with influence at all levels
  • Customer and market insight, trend awareness
  • Proficiency in English and native German
  • Results-oriented, hardworking, analytical
