The AWS Commercial Application Services team, part of the EC2 organization, is seeking a System Development Engineer to create solutions that promote the adoption of SAP workloads on AWS. As a team member, you'll design, develop, and own back-end subsystems that address complex distributed system challenges, and work on customer-facing APIs used globally.

The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise in SAP applications and cloud computing, with SAP domain knowledge and ABAP coding skills being essential for making a significant impact in this role.

Responsibilities include managing the entire service lifecycle, collaborating with cross-functional teams to ensure operational excellence and customer success. This role offers the opportunity to work with cutting-edge technologies, from machine learning to advanced processors.

Utility Computing (UC)

AWS Utility Computing provides innovative products, from foundational services like S3 and EC2 to new offerings that distinguish AWS in the industry. As part of UC, you'll support the development and management of compute, database, storage, IoT, platform, and productivity services, including security solutions for specialized customer needs.

Key job responsibilities

• Engage in daily engineering activities, providing technical guidance and support.
• Define architecture, design, and proof-of-concept efforts for end-to-end project delivery, emphasizing quality and simplicity.
• Design, implement, deploy, and maintain distributed system software to improve security, durability, availability, performance, and cost-efficiency.
• Own complex projects with broad scope, exercising autonomy and accountability.
• Communicate with customers and technical teams to align technical strategies with business goals.

• Apply best practices in software engineering to ensure high-quality deliverables.

Basic Qualifications

• Knowledge of systems engineering fundamentals (networking, storage, OS)
• Professional software development experience
• Experience in designing or architecting systems for reliability and scalability
• Hands-on experience with networking, storage, operating systems, and systems engineering
• Proficiency in at least one modern programming language (e.g., C++, C#, Java, Python, Golang, PowerShell, Ruby)
