We are seeking a Powder Diffraction Application Scientist to join us as soon as possible.

The Role

As a Powder Diffraction Application Scientist, you will leverage your expertise in X-ray diffraction to guide our customers towards successful research outcomes. Collaborate with our software and R&D teams to develop innovative tools and methodologies, ensuring we stay at the forefront of materials science. Enjoy the flexibility of remote work and contribute to a rapidly growing startup, working with leading researchers worldwide.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical guidance to users on measurement selection, data interpretation, and experimental strategies via email, calls, or online meetings, with occasional conference travel.
  • Evaluate measurement requests for feasibility, safety, and compatibility.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between users and our software development team, troubleshoot issues, and assist with feature testing.
  • Develop data processing protocols.
  • Perform analysis and help users optimize measurement approaches for various materials.
  • Create technical documentation, educational resources, and conduct internal training sessions.
Qualifications
  • PhD in Chemistry, Materials Science, or related field.
  • Experience in X-ray powder diffraction, total scattering, small-angle scattering, structural modeling, and characterization methods.
  • Knowledge of Rietveld / WPPM / SAXS / PDF refinement techniques.
  • Interest or experience in synchrotron science and diverse materials systems.
  • Additional skills such as coding in Python or interest in machine learning are a plus.
  • Excellent English communication skills; additional languages are a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and attention to detail.
  • Commitment to scientific collaboration and customer success.
  • Understanding of laboratory safety and materials handling practices.
