Job Description:

In the trapped ion quantum computing team, the focus is to enable scalable trapped ion quantum computing with innovative circuit designs. During this thesis, you will research and compare different relevant SPAD parameters and measurement methods. This includes practical aspects such as sourcing and acquiring optical components and lab equipment. We look forward to your application!

Responsibilities:
  1. Research Experience: Design and build a characterization setup to identify the best SPAD (single photon avalanche diode) arrays for our specific application.
  2. Lab Work: Gain practical experience working with lasers, optics, and electrical measurements.
  3. Collaboration: Be part of a research team involving industry and academic partners.
  4. Quantum Technology: Develop understanding of ion traps, optical clocks, and quantum computing.
  5. Passion: Demonstrate high interest in scientific research, optics, and lab work.
  6. Study Field: Currently studying Physics, Photonics, Quantum Science, or a related field with a solid foundation in optics.
  7. Experience: Some experience working in an optics lab, familiarity with laser physics, and knowledge of programming languages (preferably Python).
  8. Motivation: Motivated by improving measurements, pushing accuracy and stability limits, interested in technology and basic physics; prior knowledge of atomic clocks is a plus.
  9. Collaboration Skills: Enjoy networking and possess broad communication skills.
  10. Language Skills: Proficient in English, both written and spoken; German skills are a plus.
