About the Role:

The Senior Manager, Solutions Engineering, will lead and develop a team of Pre-sales Systems Engineers working closely with Account Executives and Sales Management to meet revenue targets. The role involves building trusted advisor relationships with clients and partners, focusing on securing technical wins by proposing solutions with clear value propositions. The manager is expected to be a player-coach with strong technical and business understanding.

What You Will Do:
  1. Lead a team providing pre-sales technical support for sales presentations, solution development, and product demonstrations of the Streaming Platform.
  2. Collaborate with Sales Management to support customer needs and enhance Confluent's value.
  3. Mentor and develop your team to maintain skills around Microservices, Linux, Kubernetes, Cloud Deployments, Data Sources, and Sinks.
  4. Improve processes to reduce errors, increase efficiency, and support scaling.
  5. Handle management functions such as hiring, performance reviews, and career planning.
  6. Present to customers on value propositions and technical solutions across assigned accounts and regions.
  7. Review Statements of Work (SOW) and Proof of Concept documentation before customer presentations.
  8. Gather regional requirements to inform Confluent's product roadmap.
What You Will Bring:
  • Over 5 years in a Systems Engineering Team Lead or SE Manager role.
  • At least 7 years supporting pre-sales engineering for enterprise customers.
  • Experience with distributed systems, infrastructure software (databases, message queues, SaaS, Big Data).
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills, capable of engaging enterprise architects and executives.
  • Self-motivated with a problem-solving mindset. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
  • Knowledge of Linux systems and proficiency in Java or Python for ETL development.
What Gives You an Edge:
  • Experience with Apache Kafka solutions.
  • Building and operating large-scale systems.
  • Knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and middleware technologies.
