Your Role

1. Lead a team of IT specialists across various disciplines at the Jena site.
2. Serve as the first point of contact for IT needs, channeling requests effectively.
3. Handle technical and operational tasks related to IT infrastructure: planning, procurement, installation, configuration, commissioning, expansion, support, and operation.
4. Analyze hardware and software issues, identify root causes, implement solutions, document processes, and optimize systems.
5. Participate actively in IT projects, including planning, implementation, and rollout.
6. Advise and support internal clients in IT-related solutions.
7. Ensure 24/7 operational readiness through on-call duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Completed relevant education or university degree in Computer Science with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
• Proven experience in building and managing data centers.
• Leadership experience in managing IT teams and extensive expertise in IT infrastructure.
• Practical knowledge in project management and IT service management, with good ITIL understanding.
• Strong skills in x86 server hardware, storage technologies, networking, IT automation, and high availability.
• Good knowledge of networked and virtualized systems, VMware, and preferably Palo Alto firewalls.
• Customer and service-oriented mindset with strong communication and social skills.
• High motivation, flexibility, and team engagement.
• Willingness to adapt working hours to operational needs.
• Fluent in German and English.
