Electrical Maintenance Technician

**Top Secret Clearance Required**

The Electrical Maintenance Technician will support the Facilities Engineering Operations & Maintenance (FEO&M) division by performing routine and preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of electrical systems within the facility. This role emphasizes Operations & Maintenance (O&M) activities over installation tasks, ensuring the reliability and efficiency of electrical infrastructure.

Responsibilities include ensuring all electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within the data center operates at peak efficiency. This involves planned preventative maintenance, daily corrective work, and emergency response. The technician reports to a program manager, interacts with Onsite Engineering Operations (OEO), third-party vendors, and serves as a focal point for facility operations, supporting data centers with mission-critical servers maintaining over 99.999% uptime.

Job Duties:
  • Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on electrical systems (lighting, power distribution, control, emergency power).
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical issues, implement solutions.
  • Maintain and repair components like switchgear, transformers, circuit breakers, motors.
  • Assist in supervising junior technicians and oversee contractors.
  • Monitor system performance, suggest improvements.
  • Use BMS and other tools for performance tracking and issue detection.
  • Develop energy management strategies to reduce costs.
  • Apply comprehensive electrical knowledge and diagnostic skills.
  • Install units or parts following safety guidelines, using MOPs and manufacturer instructions.
  • Follow safe working practices, including lockout/tagout and MSDS procedures.
  • Troubleshoot electronic units, repair malfunctioning circuits.
  • Perform maintenance and repairs on data center systems, ensuring efficient operation using appropriate test equipment.
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs, document parameters, and monitor BAS.
  • Manage mechanical and electrical systems during emergencies.
  • Procure materials, prepare cost estimates.
  • Maintain vendor relationships, coordinate maintenance activities.
  • Operate data capturing devices, develop and review MOPs and SOPs.
  • Generate reports on activities and system reliability.
  • Train junior staff on electrical systems.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 7 years of experience and a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to interpret wiring diagrams, blueprints, safety requirements, OEM instructions, and job specifications.
  • Journeyman or Master Electrician license preferred; factory training experience advantageous.
  • Knowledge of electrical codes, safety, and maintenance practices.
  • Ability to operate and inspect emergency power systems.
  • Proficiency with hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and preventive maintenance.
  • Strong communication skills, understanding of power density and HVAC integration.
  • Knowledge of building automation and CMMS systems.
  • Commitment to quality, punctuality, teamwork, and safety.
  • Willingness to travel approximately 50% within Europe, primarily Wiesbaden, Ansbach, Stuttgart, and occasionally other countries.
Physical Abilities:
  • Lift at least 100 pounds, 60 pounds for extended periods.
  • Climb ladders, work at heights up to 60 feet, and perform physical tasks regularly.
  • Good vision, color perception, hearing, and communication skills.
