About Export Control & GDPR Compliance Officer (m/f/d)

We are seeking a skilled and proactive Export Control Officer & GDPR Compliance Officer to join our team. This dual-role position is responsible for ensuring the company complies with all relevant export control laws, regulations, and trade restrictions while also ensuring full adherence to data protection requirements under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of international trade regulations, data protection laws, and risk management principles.

Your Tasks

Export Control Officer Duties:
  • Ensure Compliance:
    Responsible for the implementation of export control policies and procedures for Testia Group in line with international laws and regulations, including the EAR (Export Administration Regulations) and ITAR (International Traffic in Arms Regulations)
  • Classification of Items:
    Evaluate and classify products, technologies, and services for export control purposes to determine whether a license is required.
  • Licensing Management:
    Prepare, submit, and manage export license applications for products and technologies subject to U.S. or foreign export control laws.
  • Sanctions & Embargoes:
    Monitor and maintain compliance with economic and trade sanctions imposed by governments and international bodies (e.g., OFAC, UN, EU).
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation:
    Conduct risk assessments for potential export violations and develop strategies for risk mitigation.
  • Reporting & Documentation:
    Maintain accurate records of all export transactions and prepare required reports for regulatory authorities.
  • Liaison:
    Serve as the main point of contact with regulatory agencies for export control matters. Advise and support all areas and entities involved in the foreign trade (Testia internally, external suppliers and service providers), with respect to ensuring necessary authorisations are in place and taking into account the specific terms and conditions.
  • Training & Awareness:
    Develop and deliver regular training sessions for employees to ensure awareness of export control obligations and responsibilities.

GDPR Compliance Officer Duties
  • Data Protection Compliance:
    Ensure Testia Group's practices are in full compliance with the GDPR and other applicable data protection regulations.
  • Policy Development:
    Develop, implement, and maintain data protection policies and procedures in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Employee Training:
    Conduct training sessions to raise awareness and ensure that employees understand their responsibilities regarding GDPR compliance.
  • Data Subject Rights Management:
    Oversee and respond to requests from data subjects related to their rights (e.g., access, rectification, erasure, data portability).
  • Incident Management:
    Manage and investigate data breaches, ensuring they are reported to the relevant authorities and affected individuals in accordance with GDPR timelines.
  • Vendor Management:
    Collaborate with procurement and legal teams to ensure third-party vendors comply with GDPR requirements and appropriate data protection clauses are in place.
  • Audit & Reporting:
    Regularly audit data processing activities and produce reports for senior management and regulatory bodies as necessary.
  • Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIA):
    Lead the process of conducting DPIAs to assess and mitigate data privacy risks.

What we look for
  • Education & Experience:
    - Bachelor's degree in Law, International Business, Compliance, Information Security, or a related field. A master's degree is a plus.
    - At least 3 years of experience in export control compliance and 1 year of experience in data protection roles, with a good understanding of both export control laws (EAR, ITAR) and GDPR.
    - Experience with export licensing, product classification, sanctions screening, and compliance auditing.
    - Familiarity with data protection technologies and privacy tools.
  • Certifications:
    - Relevant certifications such as Certified Export Compliance Professional (CECP), Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP/E), or similar certifications are preferred.
  • Skills:
    - Good knowledge of export control regulations, data protection laws, and regulatory frameworks.
    - Excellent English written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate complex legal concepts to non-legal stakeholders.
    - Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
    - Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
