Are you looking for a master thesis?

We offer a master thesis opportunity: «Master thesis 2025 - Aero-structural dynamic simulation and optimisation of a helicopter stabilizer (m/f/d)» at Airbus Helicopters in Donauwörth.

You will join the “Aeromechanics and Performances” department, responsible for general helicopter design studies in aerodynamics, thermal, icing, flight mechanics, performance, and flight loops.

The work focuses on the combined aero- and structural-dynamic analysis and optimisation of helicopter tail units. It involves familiarisation with an existing simulation and analysis chain, potential case-specific adaptations, validation with flight test data, and optimisation of the stabilizer to minimise weight while ensuring stability and aerodynamic performance.

Your Profile:

  • Master's in aerospace or similar
  • Knowledge in aerodynamics, numerical aerodynamics, structural mechanics/FEM, flight mechanics
  • Programming skills in Python
  • Soft skills: independence, accuracy, curiosity, initiative
  • Linux shell knowledge is a plus

Language Skills:

  • German: good (optional)
  • English: very good
