Senior Lab Technician Flow Cytometry (f/m/x)

Helmholtz Munich is seeking a highly motivated research support specialist with experience in flow cytometry to support our new Core Facility. The role involves cell sorting, analytical flow cytometry, user training, equipment maintenance, and data interpretation. The successful candidate will work in an interdisciplinary environment, contribute to facility operations, and learn about advanced flow cytometry and other -omics technologies.

Responsibilities include:

• Operating and supporting cell sorters and analyzers, training users.
• Creating training materials and maintaining equipment.
• Troubleshooting technical issues and liaising with service engineers.
• Developing new flow cytometry methodologies and workflows.
• Adhering to safety protocols and maintaining detailed records.
• Assisting with experimental planning, troubleshooting, and data analysis.
• Managing core facility operations such as ordering, billing, and scheduling.
• Backing up data and maintaining databases.

Your profile

• At least 6 years of flow cytometry experience as a research/lab technician or a relevant Bachelor’s/Master's degree.
• Hands-on experience with instruments like BD Aria III, BD FACSSymphony S6, or Miltenyi MACSima.
• Knowledge of high-end panel design, optical configurations, and compensation.
• Proficiency in MS Office and flow cytometry software such as Diva, FlowJo, or FCSExpress.
• Experience with lab management, SOPs, and molecular biology or immunology assays.
• Ability to work independently and in teams, with strong communication skills in English; German is a plus.
• Experience with BSL2, high-dimensional data analysis, microscopy, and spatial biology is desirable.
