As Senior Backend Engineer at idealo, you support the continuing evolution of our award-winning e-commerce apps and backend services. We are a fully integrated and autonomous team that balances proven technologies with cutting-edge experimentation, delivering top-tier user experiences. We own our code and, as a team of designers, product owners, analysts, iOS and Android engineers, we drive the direction of our products.

About your new role

1. Work within our mobile applications department, collaborating with designers and analysts to build top-notch products and software.
2. Participate in the entire product lifecycle, from ideation to delivery to millions of users.
3. Utilize modern technologies such as Kotlin, AWS, GraphQL, Kafka, Terraform, Spring, and MongoDB.
4. Design and implement scalable, resilient services and collaborate across departments on projects.
5. Continuously improve our codebase, processes, and team knowledge and skills.

About you

1. Have solid experience in software engineering and architecture, with a proven record in high availability, microservices, and event streaming.
2. Excellent knowledge of Kotlin and Spring framework.
3. Experience with cloud computing, especially AWS and related services; expertise in Azure or Google Cloud is also welcome.
4. Value software craftsmanship, clean code, and continuous deployment.
5. Possess an agile mindset and full-stack skills, emphasizing rapid delivery without sacrificing quality.
6. Fluent in English.
