This is a specialized role for a seasoned property lawyer to provide expert legal counsel on all property-related aspects of EV charging infrastructure development. The successful candidate will navigate complex legal landscapes ensuring projects are legally sound and commercially viable. They will be a key player in supporting the expansion of EV charging networks across the UK.

Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Land Acquisition and Development: Conduct detailed due diligence on potential sites, including title investigations, planning history, and environmental assessments; negotiate and draft complex land acquisition agreements, option agreements, and conditional contracts.
  2. Leasing and Rights of Way: Draft and negotiate bespoke lease agreements with landowners, retail parks, service stations, and local authorities; secure and document easements, wayleaves, and rights of access for cabling and infrastructure.
  3. Planning and Regulatory Compliance: Manage all legal aspects of site lease transactions; advise on planning regulations, permitted development rights, and planning applications; liaise with local authorities and grid operators to ensure compliance.
  4. Contractual Expertise: Draft and negotiate grid connection agreements; coordinate tripartite contracts with landlords and network operators; advise on developer agreements and other site-related contracts.
  5. Project Management and Coordination: Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams; provide legal support to ensure alignment with legal guidance; lead internal initiatives to enhance lease negotiations and property management practices.
  6. Risk Management and Dispute Resolution: Identify and mitigate legal risks; stay updated on legislation and case law; assess lease terms to ensure enforceability and safeguard operational rights.
  7. Client Relationship and Business Development: Build and maintain client relationships; contribute to business opportunities within the EV charging sector.
Your Profile:
  • Graduate degree in law or equivalent with additional qualifications.
  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales with substantial post-qualification experience (PQE).
  • Extensive experience in commercial property law, especially in complex transactions.
  • Strong understanding of planning law, easements, and grid connection agreements.
  • Excellent negotiation, drafting, communication skills, and commercial acumen.
  • Experience in energy or infrastructure sectors is highly desirable.
  • Strong attention to detail, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work independently or as part of a team.
