Salary level

Start date: 01.11.2024. The position is initially fixed-term for three years, in accordance with Section 2 of the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG).

Scope of work

Part-time, with 65% of standard weekly hours.

Your responsibilities
  • Teaching and research, with at least one-third of working hours dedicated to academic work, including pursuing a doctoral degree.
  • Research focus on effects of acclimation, dispersal, and establishment on mosses and lichens under climate change, particularly their distribution and ecosystem roles.
  • Extend existing DGVMs by mechanisms of dispersal, establishment, and acclimation, evaluated through laboratory and field experiments.
  • Contribute to understanding mosses and lichens responses to climate change and improve DGVMs.
  • Teaching obligation: 2.5 LVS (course hours per week).
Your profile
  • University degree in Ecology, Biology, Biogeochemistry, or related natural sciences with ecological focus.
  • Advanced knowledge in at least two disciplines: Ecology, biogeochemistry, soil science, hydrology, or climate science.
  • Proven skills in numerical modeling, especially partial differential equations, and scientific writing.
  • Team spirit, motivation, independence, and experience with Unix-like systems.
  • Excellent English skills, both oral and written.
