Senior Software Engineer - Logging Platform

Location: Berlin, Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Hamburg, Köln, Leipzig, Munich, Stuttgart, Germany

About the role: Organizations worldwide rely on New Relic to build better software through data. Our Logs platform is fundamental for understanding systems by analyzing petabytes of log data. We are seeking experienced engineers to improve ingestion and processing experiences for New Relic Logs.

What you'll do:

1. Drive design, development, and enhancement of core features of our Log streaming Java services and APIs, using cutting-edge technologies for scalable and reliable solutions.
2. Continuously improve reliability, security, cost efficiency, and quality of the backend Logging platform and cloud infrastructure in a multi-cloud environment.
3. Enhance team efficiency through automation.
4. Mentor other engineers to achieve technical excellence and high-quality code.
5. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design scalable, efficient systems.
6. Work with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to translate business needs into technical solutions.
7. Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies.
8. Identify and address performance bottlenecks, ensuring platform stability and availability.
9. Promote a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the team.

This role requires:

• Bachelor’s degree in a related technical field.
• 5+ years of experience in Java and/or Go, with a strong CS background.
• Experience designing and maintaining large-scale software systems.
• Experience with cloud resources and technologies like Docker, Helm, Kubernetes, OpenTelemetry.
• Ability to mentor engineers and ensure high-quality code.
• Understanding of distributed systems and microservices architecture.
• Passion for exploring new technologies and solving complex problems.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills.
• Knowledge of AWS, Azure, GCP, serverless, Docker, Kubernetes, Kafka.

Bonus points if you have:

• Experience with real-time data streaming and processing services.
• Experience with high throughput pipelines and distributed systems.
• Experience in Observability SaaS products.
