Minimum Qualifications:

  • Degree: Associate's Degree in business administration, management, or healthcare organizations.
  • Education: Same as degree requirement, from an accredited college or university.
  • Experience: Two years’ experience as a PEBLO within the DoD military health system in the last 6 years; or five years’ experience in a civilian disability program; or two years’ experience as a Medical Service Coordinator (MSC).
  • Licensure: Must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Manage and process documents related to active duty, AFRC, and ANG cases, coordinating with VA Medical Service Coordinator, local MEB, IPEB, FPEB, and other stakeholders.
  • Ensure Line of Duty (LOD) processing for each IDES case.
  • Provide guidance to military personnel, retirees, and families regarding their rights, benefits, and obligations.
  • Coordinate evaluation and follow-up appointments, including referrals.
  • Assist incapacitated or incompetent Service members and their legal next-of-kin regarding their rights and benefits.
  • Serve as a liaison among Service members, commanders, healthcare professionals, and other agencies.
  • Process Review-in-Lieu-of (RILO) MEB cases as directed.
  • Respond to inquiries from beneficiaries, DoD, and other agencies.
  • Guide activities with points of contact across the Military Health System and Veterans Affairs.
  • Assist in preparing appeals, medical reviews, and coordinate legal counsel.
  • Maintain and update program documentation and safeguard medical information in compliance with Privacy Act and HIPAA.
  • Support medical staff with regulatory and procedural guidance, including training.
  • Track cases, analyze performance data, and generate reports for stakeholders.
  • Coordinate travel arrangements for members appealing to FPEB and emergency travel for seriously ill/injured Service members.
  • Advise Service members and medical staff on PEB findings and assist with appeals.
