Are you ready to take responsibility and thrive on driving operational excellence in pharmaceutical production? Then you’re exactly who we’re looking for!

As Head of Operations, you’ll lead key manufacturing areas and play a pivotal role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality products, on-time release, and seamless collaboration across cross-functional teams.

Your mission: to develop our Marburg site into a center of excellence for late-stage mRNA manufacturing and to sustainably increase productivity and efficiency by collaborating across the entire value chain.

Your Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Leadership: Lead and develop teams within mRNA Operations covering multiple technologies. Cultivate a culture of scientific and operational excellence, fostering cross-functional collaboration and innovation.
  2. Operational Excellence & Innovation: Ensure production targets are met in quality, costs, timelines, and output. Plan, steer, and monitor production processes, including resource, capacity, and personnel planning. Ensure compliance with all regulatory, GMP, environmental, and safety requirements. Drive process optimization, streamline material flows, and implement new technologies and continuous improvements. Lead interdisciplinary projects for new products and process implementations.
  3. Collaboration & Coordination: Encourage and drive cross-functional collaboration to enhance value creation and performance. Partner with quality assurance, technical teams, and other departments to streamline interfaces and harness synergies. Represent the Operations department externally, engaging with partners, authorities, and stakeholders, fostering proactive communication to achieve collective goals.
Your Profile:
Technical Expertise:
  • Degree in natural sciences, pharmacy, engineering, process engineering, biotechnology, or a related field.
  • At least 15 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry, with expertise in operational management, production processes, and technology. Experience in mRNA manufacturing is preferred.
Leadership & Collaboration:
  • Extensive experience leading cross-functional teams, fostering collaboration and innovation. Passion for empowering employees and managing multidisciplinary teams in a fast-paced environment.
Analytical & Problem-Solving Skills:
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities with experience in analyzing and managing complex operational challenges. Skilled in process optimization methods.
Regulatory & Industry Knowledge:
  • Deep knowledge of GMP requirements, quality management tools, and Lean Management.
Communication:
  • Fluent in German and English, both written and spoken. Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with external partners, authorities, and internal stakeholders.
