Business Area (BA) Markets plays a crucial role in maximizing the value of Vattenfall's portfolio by optimizing, dispatching, hedging, and sourcing energy for sales and generation volumes. This unit acts as Vattenfall’s gateway to energy markets, trading electricity, emissions, fuels, freight, and renewable certificates. About 500 professionals across Europe, in offices in Sweden, Germany, The Netherlands, and the UK, are dedicated to this effort.

Within Markets, BU Customers offers power purchase agreements (PPAs) to wind and solar park operators, provides market access to large customers and regional energy suppliers, and connects demand-side flexibility to stabilize the electricity grid. We also source electricity for Vattenfall’s consumer and business customers, with a focus on increasing renewable sources.

Job Description

Are you eager to shape the future? As the energy landscape evolves, we are restructuring to become more efficient and competitive. We are seeking a (Senior) Renewables Originator for our offices in Hamburg or Stockholm. You will report to the Director of Renewables Origination.

Your key responsibilities include:

• Originate new business in renewable energy markets aligned with Vattenfall’s portfolio needs and strategic goals
• Identify deal opportunities, focusing on mid- to long-term renewable energy solutions, PPAs, corporate PPAs, and hydrogen offtake
• Structure and negotiate long-term PPAs for projects or portfolios from our European pipeline
• Coordinate PPA tender processes and lead deal negotiations from start to finish
• Build and maintain relationships within the German energy market, especially with renewable generators and customers
• Expand renewables business and implement asset strategies with the Wind Business Area for onshore, offshore wind, and solar projects
• Collaborate with Legal, Energy Portfolio Management, and Risk Management teams to ensure PPAs are financeable and aligned with portfolio strategy
• Present negotiation outcomes to internal committees to support decision-making
• Monitor electricity market developments, analyze price trends, and develop relationships with industrial clients
• Prepare business cases, investment proposals, and presentations for project approvals

Qualifications

Your profile:

• Extensive experience in power markets, preferably in renewables origination
• Master’s degree or higher in a technical or economic field
• Fluent in German and English
• Deep understanding of European electricity markets, participants, and regulations, with strong analytical skills
• Ability to work independently and close deals, while being a team player
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating deal approvals
• Strong commercial acumen and understanding of trading, risk, credit, and finance functions
• Proven ability to evaluate, structure, and negotiate complex commercial agreements like PPAs
• Good understanding of the hydrogen value chain and power energy markets
• Networked and capable of building trust externally and internally
• Resilient and goal-oriented to execute Vattenfall’s strategies
