As Vice President of Customs Operations Germany, you will lead all customs sub-functions at the country level, implement functional strategies for documentation preparation and clearance, and advise customers on import, export, and transit regulations in alignment with business objectives and corporate policies.

YOUR KEY TASKS

Lead Customs Operations Strategy:

• Direct country-level customs operations strategy in alignment with business goals, corporate policies, and compliance standards.
• Oversee the development and implementation of processes for customs clearance, focusing on optimizing service and performance without directly handling customs duties.

Documentation and Incident Management:

• Approve the preparation of import documents per regulations, monitor shipment status, identify incidents, and implement resolutions.

Supplier and Internal Collaboration:

• Build relationships with key suppliers and collaborate with internal functions and global service centers to enhance operational efficiency.

Performance Monitoring and Improvement:

• Define plans to assess supplier performance, provide feedback, and develop improvement strategies as needed.

Operational Excellence and Best Practices:

• Ensure high operational quality standards in import/export operations and data quality, while providing expert advice on complex issues and introducing best practices to enhance effectiveness and efficiency.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• Excellent communication skills in English and German.
• Master's degree with extensive, professional experience in a dynamic work environment.
• Strategic Leadership & Operational Excellence: Proven ability to lead and implement operations strategy at the country level, with extensive experience in optimizing business processes, including delivery arrangements and shipment planning.
• Regulatory Compliance: Strong knowledge of international trade regulations and documentation procedures, capable of overseeing and approving import documentation.
• Incident Management: Effective problem-solving skills for monitoring shipment status, identifying incidents, and implementing prompt resolutions.
• Supplier & Stakeholder Management: Skilled in building and managing relationships with key suppliers and internal functions.
• Quality & Process Improvement: Expertise in establishing high standards of operational quality, compliance, and data integrity.
• Basic understanding of the co-determination principles regulating the German labour market.
