Risk Management plays a vital role in the Zalando buying experience by evaluating the intent and ability of customers to pay for their purchases, thereby enabling the offer of various payment methods. This evaluation supports our flagship deferred payment experience, allowing customers to try products first and pay later for the ones they keep. Risk management conducts comprehensive risk assessments to determine suitable payment options and performs post-order fraud evaluations to identify potential risks. Our core value is to minimize financial risks while providing customers with preferred payment methods.

The team operates within risk management to develop world-class data labeling and screening solutions, enhancing our machine learning capabilities and improving manual fraud prevention efficiency and effectiveness. The product manager will collaborate with the team, peers, and other multidisciplinary groups to optimize existing products and develop new risk management solutions.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and deliver initiatives central to Zalando's payment risk strategy, collaborating with data scientists, operations, legal, IT security teams to minimize fraud activity.
2. Work with established machine learning teams to enhance label quality, thereby improving model performance.
3. Partner with operational teams to improve internal tooling for fraud detection and labeling solutions, aiming to increase capabilities by 10X.

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

1. 6 years of experience in Product Management, focusing on fraud detection and prevention products.
2. Strong analytical skills; experience using data and KPIs to identify opportunities, test hypotheses, and measure success.
3. A passion for solving user problems with empathy and understanding, challenging the status quo.
4. Experience conducting UAT and user training before product launch.
5. Ability to work independently with data.
6. Excellent communication skills tailored to different audiences, including engineering and leadership.
7. Strong English writing and storytelling skills for various documentation and communication needs.
8. Personal traits: adaptability to ambiguity, teamwork, positivity, big thinking, fast action, ownership mentality.
