Your Tasks
In the departments 5.3 "Coordinate Metrology" ( https://www.ptb.de/cms/ptb/fachabteilungen/abt5/fb-53.html ) and 5.4 "Interferometry on Measuring Scales" ( https://www.ptb.de/cms/ptb/fachabteilungen/abt5/fb-54.html ), the development of methods for determining measurement uncertainty when using 3D laser scanning is to be advanced as part of a European research project together with participants from science and industry.
You Will Support Us With The Following Activities
- Development of a generic laser scanner model in the form of a digital metrological twin in collaboration with manufacturing companies and other project participants
- Development of strategies and methods for parameter acquisition for simulation-based measurement uncertainty determination
- Demonstration and validation of the digital metrological twin on industrial use cases
- Creation of reports and project management
- Publication of research results in the form of journal articles and conference papers
Your Profile
- Completed university degree (diploma/master's degree) in physics, mechanical engineering, computer science, geodesy or comparable
- Confident programming skills in at least one programming language such as Python, MATLAB and/or C++/C#
- Knowledge or practical experience in at least one of the following areas Laser scanning, digital twin or modeling, Monte Carlo simulation, parallel programming
- Sense of responsibility, high level of commitment and initiative as well as goal-oriented and independent work
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- German (B2 level ( https://www.europaeischer-referenzrahmen.de /) ) and English language skills (C1 level ( https://www.europaeischer-referenzrahmen.de /) )
- Willingness to travel domestically and abroad
- Physical aptitude for laboratory work and carrying out experiments
