Volocopter pioneers electric air taxis (eVTOLs) aimed at sustainable urban mobility. Since 2011, they've conducted over 2,000 test flights globally, advancing electric aviation technology.

Job Summary

This hybrid role involves organizing and executing battery and Battery Management System (BMS) testing during development and certification phases. Responsibilities include test planning, setup, execution, documentation, and collaboration on root cause analysis.

Tests encompass HIL testing, thermal runaway, vibration, environmental stresses, and component/material testing related to batteries and BMS.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Assist in creating and scheduling test plans
  • Clarify testing requirements
  • Prepare documentation for test campaigns
  • Develop and maintain test setups
  • Supervise and support testing with external suppliers and conduct tests independently
  • Analyze results and generate reports
  • Conduct Test Reviews (TRRs)

Qualifications:

  • Background in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or related fields
  • 5+ years experience in battery or similar product testing (Environmental, Abuse, Vibration, HIL)
  • Ability to design and build test systems
  • Knowledge of Battery Development and High Current Testing
  • Experience with HIL and automotive/aviation testing tools (LabCar, dSpace, Simulink, CANoe, PCAN)
  • Excellent English communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in aviation industry and regulations
  • Knowledge of automotive standards (E.g., ECE R100, ISO 26262) or aviation standards (DO160G, DO311A)
  • High Voltage training (DGUV-I 209-093 or similar)
  • Experience with V-Cycle, Agile/SCRUM, JIRA, PLM tools (Siemens Teamcenter)
  • Understanding of EASA Part-21J certification processes
