Product Line Manager - Strategic Optics (f/m/d) in Mainz

The Product Line Manager for Strategic Optics is responsible for the vision and strategy of key optics products. They develop and execute strategies aligned with Edmund Optics’ technological vision, improve customer acquisition and retention, and ensure profitable growth of standard and custom products. Responsibilities include managing optics product lines, expanding existing offerings, gathering market intelligence, defining end-of-life strategies, and collaborating across departments to develop objectives, presentations, and financial proposals.

Essential Functions:

  1. Define and develop the vision and strategy for specific products, supported by ROI, marketing data, and strategic plans. Identify new applications and set target metrics.
  2. Create new standard products, product lines, and custom capabilities.
  3. Communicate product strategies and plans.
  4. Develop business cases, roadmaps, forecasts, and analyze the competitive landscape, pricing, target customers, and markets.
  5. Collaborate with sales, marketing, R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams on product development and go-to-market strategies.
  6. Lead cross-functional teams without direct authority.
  7. Define marketing strategies for different channels, regions, and customer segments.
  8. Stay updated with scientific literature, attend trade shows, and share insights.
  9. Promote products internally and externally through training and participation in events.
  10. Maintain relationships with suppliers, partners, and customers.
  11. Assemble and lead subject matter expert teams for projects.
  12. Manage and mentor Product Line Engineers and Applications Engineers.
  13. Ensure compliance with policies and regulations.

Qualifications:

Requirements include a Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering, Physics, or a related field, with at least two years of experience in application engineering, manufacturing engineering, or product management within the optics field. Candidates should have strong optics knowledge, initiative, analytical and communication skills, leadership qualities, and the ability to manage multiple projects. Willingness to travel is also required.
