Senior Data Engineer - ZMS advertisement platform (all genders)

THE ROLE & THE TEAM

Join us to help develop the ZMS advertisement platform that aims to inspire, engage, and inform Zalando shoppers through brand-curated and highly relevant advertising experiences. Our goal is to support the shopping journey by enabling our partners to promote their brand, stories, and products.

As a Senior Data Engineer, you will create a top-tier reporting infrastructure focused on user experience for our fashion brands' advertising on Zalando. You'll help them understand their advertising performance and make informed decisions through data. While primarily data engineering, knowledge of backend development (e.g., APIs) will be beneficial as the team also develops some backend components.

WHAT WE'D LOVE YOU TO DO (AND LOVE DOING)

  • Build and improve the campaign reporting infrastructure for monitoring advertising campaigns on Zalando's platform.
  • Evaluate and implement leading-edge technologies to optimize platform performance in throughput, read-latency, scalability, and reliability, ensuring reports render in under 5 seconds despite large datasets.
  • Take end-to-end responsibility for projects within a cross-functional team, iterating quickly during product development, and communicating effectively with stakeholders and peers.
  • Share your knowledge and help colleagues grow their technical skills.

WE'D LOVE TO MEET YOU IF

  • You have 5+ years of experience in data engineering (Python), proficiency in designing and developing APIs (Java), and handling high-volume data.
  • You possess solid knowledge of operational excellence and cloud infrastructure (AWS, k8s, etc.).
  • You have experience building data infrastructures that render data in web applications.
  • Backend engineering and DevOps knowledge are a plus.
