If you have a passion for microbiology and an interest in electronic data evaluation, this position may be perfect for you. As a Senior Technician, you will operate as a specialist in phenotypic identification of microorganisms using images. The bioburden recoveries are acquired during product quality control and environmental monitoring of cleanrooms at production sites globally. You will take independent responsibility for the administration, including resource planning of the global microID (microbial Identification), and carry out these identifications. Additionally, you will process results through trend analyses and generate global in-house strain lists. You will lead the updating and maintenance of the microbiological reference database of a proprietary WEST program and support communication with an external identification laboratory. These tasks are mainly digital and involve proactive communication to ensure timely processing. The role is suitable for hybrid work, with minimal preparatory work required daily.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Organize and conduct microbial identification based on phenotype to support the global laboratory organization, including the use of the internal microID application and error correction.
  2. Manage communication with the contract laboratory conducting microbial identification via MALDI-TOF and DNA sequencing.
  3. Support the implementation of the microID application in additional locations as needed.
  4. Write annual reports and perform trend analyses based on testing and monitoring data, including technical reviews.
  5. Create global in-house strain lists.
  6. Plan and track responsibilities within schedules, including risk mitigation suggestions.
Education
  • Successfully completed apprenticeship as a technical assistant (BTA) or laboratory technician.
Work Experience
  • Experience in a microbiological laboratory.
  • Familiarity with cGMP-compliant documentation.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong interest in microbiology.
  • Experience with statistical data analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS-Office; ideally SAP.
  • Excellent English skills, both written and spoken.
  • Effective communication and presentation skills in an international team.
  • Motivated, reliable, responsible, and able to work independently.
  • Open to change and development, with a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Interest in flexible routines and working hours.
  • Willingness to travel for projects.
