MAJOR FUNCTION

:

The Landscaping Career/Technical Educator Instructor is a grant-funded position at the Gadsden Re-Entry Center or Jefferson Correctional Institution. The Instructor’s major functions are to teach an appropriate, assigned career/technical education program through the facilitation of a teaching environment (lecture, group, or individual) targeting a diverse population resulting in the earning of appropriate industry-recognized certifications. The Instructor also works with students and educational staff to assist students with academic and career pathway planning.

MINIMUM TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:

High school diploma or its equivalent, and six years of experience in the vocational being taught; a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution and two years of occupational experience in the vocation being taught; or additional education or training may substitute on a year-for-year basis for up to four (4) years of the required experience.

• Proficiency in MS Office applications and internet navigation.

• Ability to adapt teaching strategies to varying student abilities.

• Ability to interact appropriately with project and DOC staff.
