Job Description:

ArcelorMittal is the number one supplier of steels to the global automotive sector. There are many key challenges and opportunities facing our automotive customers. One of these is the fast-growing need for electrical steels for full electric vehicle motors. ArcelorMittal is developing high-quality products, solutions, and services to meet our automotive customers' requirements worldwide.

Main responsibilities and activities:

The Customer Technical Support Engineer (CTS), together with the Account Manager, forms the core of the customer team that maintains direct contact with our customers under the philosophy of “one face to the customer”. You will be responsible for all technical communication and developments for a specific set of customers. This involves coordinating with quality teams at our mills, customer service, CTO, R&D, marketing, commercial teams, and the sustainability (XCarb) team. You will have regular contact with customers, assisting with production, new product trials, or quality incidents. Developing a deep understanding of the customer’s processes, products, and technical needs is essential.

Your role will include activities such as:

  • Assist and drive sales growth
  • Provide detailed information about our products to customers
  • Support new product development, including approval and trial follow-up
  • Analyze specifications and support the commercial team with quotations
  • Advise on product or process improvements at customer sites
  • Propose value-adding cost-saving solutions
  • Organize training sessions for customer quality, R&D, and sales teams
  • Contribute to action plan progress and support sales efforts

2. Provide technical advice to customers and our commercial teams:

  • Respond to technical inquiries about our products’ capabilities, performance, tolerances, and guarantees
  • Assist customers using our materials
  • Ensure all technical needs of customers are communicated to mills and sales teams

3. Quality management:

  • Handle customer claims from problem identification to corrective actions, in cooperation with production facilities
  • Maintain good communication with production plants through visits, meetings, quality action plans, and audits

Skills & requirements

  • Be autonomous, proactive, and customer-focused
  • Think value- and solution-oriented
  • Possess strong and concise communication skills
  • Hold an Engineering Master’s degree with a high interest in technical topics
  • Have 3 to 5 years of experience in electric motors, preferably in the automotive sector
  • Be proficient in English and fluent in German (for Stuttgart), French (for Dunkerque/Mardyck), Italian (for Milan), or Spanish (for Madrid)
  • Willingness to travel regularly, including overnight stays for customer and plant visits
