Jobbeschreibung

Development and commissioning of the new fully automated powder diffraction endstation at P in collaboration with scientists of the powder diffraction team at PETRA and engineers.

User support at P and P.1.

Work as part of a team of scientists and engineers to provide operational support for powder diffraction and PDF experiments, in close collaboration with the international user community and industry.

Develop and pursue an own in-house research program in the field of powder diffraction or total scattering.

About you :

• Completed academic higher education (master or diploma) in physics, materials science, or a related field, or equivalent expertise, skills, and experience.
• PhD in chemistry, physics, materials science, or an equivalent field or qualification.
• Profound knowledge in beamline instrumentation and data collection at 3rd generation synchrotron beamlines.
• Experience in analyzing data from either powder diffraction or total scattering experiments.
• Knowledge in the field of pharmacy, in-situ catalytic or gas sorption studies and/or battery materials.
• Experience in user operation and design & construction of automated experiments.
• Basic knowledge of programming languages, preferably Python.
• Excellent communication skills in English.
