IDS International is seeking a Power Plant Operator (PPO) to support the “Total Maintenance Contract for the Kaiserslautern Military Community.” The PPOwill perform high-voltage (415 volt to 11 kV) electrical work involving the installation, operation, maintenance, repair and testing of high voltage electrical power generation and distribution systems to include facilities and related systems, transformers, generators, switchgear, metering and control systems, equipment, machinery and power appliances to within acceptable national (NEC) and local (MEW) codes, safety rules and electrical standards.

Responsibilities:

• Accountable for and ensures a safe and effective operation of the power plant facility.
• Uses a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) database to track work orders, request material and update work order statuses as needed.
• Analyzes equipment data and trends; formulates changes to the maintenance program procedures as needed.
• Works to eliminate unscheduled outages.
• Performs installation, maintenance and repair of all electrical, generator, transformer, switchgear, power grid, substation and load center equipment.
• Tests circuits, power grids, transformers, switchgear and controls demonstrating the proper use of meters, high-voltage testers, meggers and similar testing equipment to measure the integrity of electrical components and detect faults, hazards and the need for adjustments, relocation and or replacement.
• Works on breakers, transformers, RTS or Protest relay testing, oil testing, infrared scanning, automatic transfer switching, performing start-up on switchgear up through 500kV class, Variable Frequency Drives (VFD).
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

• Host Nation certified High Pressure Boiler Plant Operator (Hochdruckheisser).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of electrical codes, utility standards and safety programs as governed by rules, regulations and guidelines of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, ANSI and the NEC.
• Experience in power plant operations, power generation, distribution, transmission and substation maintenance.
• NICET III certification in electrical power testing or equivalent training.
• Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in power plant operations, power generation, distribution, transmission and substation maintenance.

Language Requirements:

• English and German at level 4 proficiency: At this level an employee is required to possess a high degree of proficiency in both written and spoken English, including the ability to translate the host country language into precise and correct English, and English into the applicable foreign language. On occasion, an employee at this level might be expected to act as an interpreter in situations where considerable importance attaches to proper word meaning.

Computer Skills:

• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
