Cyber Security Specialist EU (Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Luxembourg) - Remote

We are working exclusively with a globally respected service provider collaborating with major EU government organizations. They currently have a unique opportunity for a Cyber Security Specialist to join their talented Senior IT Delivery team.

You will need to be based in one of the countries listed above. This is a remote position with some travel (10-15%).

The Role

The client is committed to protecting their services from internal or external threats, whether deliberate or accidental, that could impact individuals, activities, or reputation. Finding the right balance of security controls is complex: overly strict controls can hinder business, while weak controls risk information and organizational reputation, with significant financial and legal consequences.

The primary purpose of this role is to provide subject matter expertise to guide the design, implementation, and operation of security systems and services. It involves Security Architectural Design and Security Operational activities, offering technical leadership within the Security Tower and supporting broader design and bidding activities.

This proactive role focuses on identifying and mitigating existing and potential security weaknesses.

The role reports to the Europe CIO. The candidate should be self-motivated, autonomous, accountable for deliverables, and capable of managing relationships with and influencing senior stakeholders internally and externally.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical security leadership across business operations, including security requirements, architectural design, risk assessment, and best practices, in collaboration with the Enterprise Architect Europe and Solution Architects.
• Ensure the company is aware of potential security risks promptly, reporting systemic weaknesses and control effectiveness issues.
• Mitigate reputational and security risks by identifying weaknesses, non-compliances, and technical debt.
• Review and analyze proposed changes to operational services for security impact, providing expertise on risks and mitigation strategies.
• Engage with internal and external audit and assurance providers, interpret test and audit results, and support remedial actions.
• Participate actively in vulnerability management activities to reduce exploit risks.
• Contribute to security improvement initiatives to keep procedures and protocols aligned with best practices.

Skills & Experience

The candidate should possess broad information security knowledge with deep, current technical expertise in applications, infrastructure, and cloud security.

Excellent communication skills are essential, along with practical experience with security technologies such as firewalls, SIEM tools, and Identity and Access Management.

Familiarity with risk management frameworks and methodologies is required.

The profile should include non-technical skills such as curiosity, investigative mindset, perseverance, and thoroughness, to be an effective security leader.

Minimum of 6 years of IT experience, including at least 4 years in a technical security discipline (e.g., Security Operations or Network Security).

Intermediate or advanced security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CSIM) are desirable.
