A Snapshot of Your Day

Due to the energy transition and the increasing integration of renewable energy sources, there is a rising demand for reactive power, inertia, and frequency stabilizing current contributions to ensure the safe operation of the AC transmission grid. We are seeking a system engineer to design Statcom applications with active power storage for FACTS installations. You will be responsible within a team of experts for designing and sizing the main components of a Statcom, including transformers, converters, and storage systems. You will work collaboratively with guided onboarding. How You’ll Make an Impact

• Evaluate project requirements and calculate the technical parameters for designing and rating main equipment.
• Analyze potential interactions between Statcom installations and the transmission grid.
• Develop and validate calculation tools (Matlab) and simulation models (PSCAD/EMTDC) for EMT simulations.
• Conduct training sessions and present design results to customers.
• Support tender and project management through technical discussions and customer meetings.
• Develop cooperation with regions worldwide and continuously improve standardization of calculation tools, study procedures, methods, and processes, including documentation.
• Coordinate with external partners and sub-suppliers, and collaborate with regions globally.

What You Bring

• A very good master’s degree in electrical energy systems or business engineering.
• Knowledge of electrical power transmission system components such as transformers and converters.
• Preferred experience in high-voltage system calculations, such as short-circuit current determination and system interactions with the electrical grid.
• Proficiency in German and English (reading, writing, speaking); knowledge of Spanish is a plus.
