Fraunhofer IPA is one of the largest institutes within the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, focusing on manufacturing engineering, robotics, and automation, employing nearly 1,000 staff.
The university seeks candidates for a W3 professorship in "Cognitive Robotics for Industrial Applications" within the Faculty of Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, and Information Technology. The role involves research in sensor and actuator technology, information processing, and control, with applications in logistics, architecture, agriculture, and life sciences.
The candidate will participate in research initiatives such as ARENA, excellence clusters, and innovation campuses, and will contribute to teaching and third-party funding acquisition.
This position follows the "Berliner model"—an appointment at the university with delegated research and management duties at Fraunhofer IPA. The candidate should have extensive experience in interdisciplinary research, strategic planning, and international project management, with a strong publication or patent record.
