WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW (Job Overview):

Contribute expertise and guidance to implement programs that enhance volunteer engagement. Supervise volunteers and serve as a subject-matter-expert on volunteer programs, tools, and systems. Act as a liaison to internal and external partners, providing support and leadership to volunteers.

All duties are performed in compliance with standard operating procedures and applicable regulations.

Position: YOUTH & YOUNG ADULT PROGRAM SPECIALIST. This role requires up to 40% travel, with one day per week in the designated chapter office in Wilmington, DE; Baltimore, MD; Silver Spring, MD; Washington, DC; or Fairfax, VA.

WHERE YOUR CAREER IS A FORCE FOR GOOD (Key Responsibilities):

  • Provide expertise and serve as a resource for volunteer engagement best practices. Analyze volunteer satisfaction data and collaborate with teams to develop strategies for engagement and retention.
  • Develop comprehensive volunteer needs assessments, align goals with stakeholder input, and monitor implementation.
  • Lead and train volunteer leaders in onboarding and training programs, serving as a subject-matter-expert.
  • Coordinate recognition efforts and events to celebrate volunteer contributions.
  • Manage screening and training teams, serve as Point-of-Contact for volunteer intake, and assist in volunteer referrals.
  • Oversee volunteer planning and scheduling to ensure effective coverage, acting as liaison for volunteer requests.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED (Minimum Qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience; volunteer management experience preferred.
  • A valid driver’s license with a good record is required.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.

Physical requirements include sitting, handling, talking, reaching, standing, walking, stooping, and lifting up to 30 pounds occasionally. The work environment is moderate noise with standard office equipment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in youth program management, community outreach, working with diverse populations, and cultural competence.
  • Tech-savvy and bilingual abilities are a plus.
  • Leadership experience and ability to delegate are advantageous.
