Because digital energy trading can't wait any longer: At EWE TRADING GmbH, we handle the energy trading activities of the EWE Group and act as the Group’s interface to the wholesale markets for energy and natural gas and emissions rights (EUA and CER). Responsibilities:
  • You actively support the management of the risks for the energy trading business of EWE TRADING in close partnership with the trading desks.
  • You support the strategic improvement and development of our PPA business, and you will become the main contact within Risk Management for all PPA-related issues.
  • You will also actively work on the risk side in the field of (structured) power trading.
  • You are the first point of contact in risk management for inquiries in the area of forward curves in close coordination with the analysis team and the trading desks.
  • You are familiar with the concept of discounting, NPV, and risk-adjusted NPV.
  • You work independently on projects and the related documentation requirements.
  • The development and implementation of concepts and methods is done by you and your colleagues in close cooperation with the Analysis and DevOps teams.
  • You support the evaluation and development of new trading strategies and products and improve our trading system.
  • Ad hoc analyses and evaluations are provided by you when needed.
  • The reporting, their enhancements, and maintenance are ensured by you and your colleagues.
  • You support your Risk Management fellows and all other departments (e.g., the Trading Desks, the Credit Risk Management Team, etc.).
Your Profile:
  • A degree in mathematics, physics, business mathematics, business information systems, or equivalent experience in the energy, finance, or insurance sector.
  • Good skillsets in modelling, implementing, and applying stochastic models - preferably within the energy, finance, or comparable sectors – you understand the concepts of option pricing, greeks, VaR, fair values, etc.
  • Good programming skills, preferably in Python.
  • You are familiar with the energy business and PPA products.
  • You are eager to learn new skills, improve upon your existing proficiencies, and can break down complex topics into digestible portions.
  • Experience with reporting tools, preferably Microsoft Power BI, is an advantage.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills (English and German).
  • You are a reliable team player and can also work on your own.
