Sales Manager, Cosmetic Ingredients (DACH) – Germany (Remote) - Mid-Sized Manufacturer

Irving Knight has partnered with a highly innovative and reputable Cosmetic Ingredient Manufacturer to identify a Sales Manager focused on the DACH region. My client is very well known for their Preservatives and Actives but boasts a portfolio of 300+ scientifically backed ingredients.

Interestingly, my client invests 4% of all revenue into R&D and releases six new ingredients per year on average, making them one of the most innovative companies on the market. They also possess a 50/50 gender diversity split at the management level.

This role will focus on growing the existing €2m business across Germany, Austria, and Switzerland. The position is fully remote with 30% travel across the region, managing two distribution partners. This opportunity offers growth technically, professionally, and personally, while acting as the 'face of the company' in the DACH region for a leading scientific manufacturer.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  1. Reporting to the EMEA Sales Director, you will be responsible for driving business growth across DACH with up to 30% travel.
  2. Utilize product knowledge and sales experience to clearly communicate the value proposition.
  3. Sustain and improve customer service via innovative service initiatives.
  4. Analyze industry changes, emerging markets, new products, and competitors.
  5. Attend and recommend participation in industry tradeshows and events.
  6. Represent the company at conferences, industry events, and on social media platforms.
  7. Apply effective sales techniques when prospecting and communicating the brand.
  8. Advance prospects through the sales process to secure new business.
  9. Prepare and deliver sales presentations and product demos, in person or virtually.
  10. Secure in-person customer visits with key contacts in purchasing, R&D, and sales/marketing.
  11. Respond promptly to customer questions, concerns, and inquiries.
  12. Send quotes, samples, and handle requests as needed.
  13. Participate in new product launches, training, joint sales calls, and testing.
  14. Report customer issues, meetings, and opportunities regularly via call reports and emails.
  15. Collaborate closely with product management, pricing, and R&D teams.

Qualifications

  1. A BSc or higher in Chemistry, Pharmaceuticals, or similar is preferred but not essential.
  2. Proven success in acquiring new customers and growing sales, with measurable figures.
  3. Minimum three years’ experience selling Cosmetic Ingredients, preferably within Germany and the DACH region; seven+ years is preferred.
  4. Fluency in English and German is essential; additional languages are a plus.
  5. Self-motivated, energetic, and enthusiastic with a positive outlook.
  6. Strong written and verbal communication skills, adaptable to different audiences.
  7. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  8. Valid driver’s license and proof of insurability.
  9. Existing network within the Personal Care industry is advantageous.
  10. Willingness to travel more than 30% of the time.
