We are recruiting an experienced Managing Editor for Newstalk, Ireland’s national independent talk radio station with a weekly audience of over 850,000 listeners and a growing digital and social audience.

This pivotal role within Bauer Media Audio Ireland and Irish media requires a candidate with significant experience and exceptional leadership skills, tuned into audiences.

You will be responsible for overseeing the planning and execution of high-quality, trusted content that grows engagement and delivers commercial success, with a focus on ensuring cohesive representation of Conversation That Counts across all platforms, especially digital audio and podcasting.

As Managing Editor, you will lead a high-performing editorial team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages creativity, innovation, and journalistic excellence.

You will shape our long-term strategic and editorial vision, identify trends, and spearhead initiatives that align with Newstalk’s ambitions and values.

What you will do:

• Develop and implement editorial strategies that align with Newstalk’s mission and engage our target audience.
• Lead and empower the editorial team in producing high-quality multi-platform audio content to position Newstalk as a leader in content creation and audience engagement.
• Foster a collaborative and innovative culture, mentoring staff to drive team development.
• Ensure content accuracy, fairness, and balance, maintaining high journalistic standards and compliance with broadcast and legal guidelines.
• Stay updated on industry trends and audience preferences, adapting content and delivery methods accordingly.
• Oversee resource allocation for efficient and effective station operation.
• Build strong relationships internally and externally with stakeholders, talent, and production teams.
• Collaborate with Bauer teams on content and promotional efforts to reach audiences effectively.
• Work closely with commercial teams to develop content-led commercial partnerships.
