The future of BASF is climate-neutral - and we are shaping the way ahead! We enable BASF to access renewable energy by participating in the production of renewable electricity, concluding long-term supply contracts, and bringing renewable electricity to BASF production sites.

Responsibilities

• Manage risks for the energy trading business in close cooperation with trading desks.
• Make risk-avoiding adjustments to current methods of operation to minimize future risks.
• Perform risk evaluation, measurement, and ensure compliance with risk management frameworks, including VaR, stress testing, and validation of input parameters used by valuation and risk measurement models.
• Collaborate with financial planning, energy accounting, regulatory groups, financial reporting, contracts, and supply operations to stay updated on power resources and regulations.
• Provide analytical support for strategy development and portfolio hedging, and stay informed on energy and commodity market developments.
• Conduct training and raise awareness of risk management practices within the company.

Qualifications

• Degree in economics, business administration, mathematics, business information systems, or equivalent experience in energy, finance, or insurance sectors. PRM certification may be advantageous.
• At least 2 years of experience in the energy sector, power experience is a plus.
• Experience with trading systems, especially ETRM systems (e.g., Allegro, FIS, Contigo), and in operational finance and risk roles.
• Strong knowledge of risk management, with prior experience as risk analyst or assistant.
• Understanding of economic optimization, risk, and market analytics.
• Excellent research skills and proficiency in MS Office.
• Excellent written and spoken communication skills in English; German is a plus.
