The future of BASF is climate-neutral - and we are shaping the way ahead! We enable BASF to access renewable energy by participating in the production of renewable electricity, concluding long-term supply contracts and bringing renewable electricity to BASF production sites.

RESPONSIBILITIES

As Expert for Short Term Trading you will be responsible for developing structures and support build-up of a team for manual and / or automated intraday trading.

• You will trade in day-ahead and intraday to manage our renewables portfolio, BASF-owned CHP power plants, and site demand.
• You will develop optimization strategies for renewable power production from own assets based on continuous analysis of multiple market and weather data sources to derive trading decisions and strategies to maximize our P&L.
• Furthermore, you will challenge existing solutions and processes.
• You will ensure and develop operations management within the business management team including market access and balancing models.
• In addition, you will integrate BASF-owned CHP power plants, renewables projects and PPA contracts in the BASF Renewable Energy business model.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Completed university studies in physics, mathematics, computer science, engineering, or economics
• Experience in short term energy trading
• Excellent knowledge about power markets and regulations in EU countries
• Experience in and understanding of power markets as well as in building of new business
• Proactive entrepreneurial attitude, strong orientation on results with a commercial mindset, Can-Do mentality, and ability to work independently and under time pressure
• Team player with excellent communication and problem-solving skills
• Excellent language skills in English written and spoken; German is a plus
