Job Title: System Engineer at Johnson Electric

Location: Dresden, Germany

Johnson Electric is seeking an experienced System Engineer to contribute to the development of innovative drive units for eBikes. The role involves coordinating the product development process, from design through testing to certification. The ideal candidate will have a complex understanding of physical domains involved in eBike motors.

Responsibilities:

1. Develop, simulate, and design eBike drive units from conception to production start.
2. Lead eBike system development in collaboration with the project manager, coordinating all engineering activities.
3. Analyze specifications and customer requirements; derive internal specs; conduct tolerance and risk assessments.
4. Run multiphysics simulations supporting product development while considering costs.
5. Coordinate prototype testing, develop testing plans, and analyze results.
6. Work independently with suppliers and development partners.
7. Stay updated on eBike innovations and products.
8. Report engineering status to project management and top executives.

Candidate Profile and Experience:

• University degree in mechatronics, drive engineering, mechanical engineering, or similar.
• Understanding of electrical and mechanical issues.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role.
• Proficiency with 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, SolidEdge) and PLM systems.
• Experience with multiphysics simulation tools (Simplorer, SimulationX, Matlab Simulink).
• Experience with FE simulation tools (Ansys Workbench).
• Fluent in English; German skills are a plus.
• Experience in mass production product development and transfer to production.
• Structured, solution-oriented, and pragmatic approach.
• Creative, communicative, team-oriented, and culturally adaptable.
• Willingness to travel regularly, mainly to Zwickau.
