The Commercial Analysis (CA) department provides detailed commercial insights, market analysis, and analytical support services to RWE’s businesses across the globe. Our goal is to support the transition to Net Zero by guiding the business towards high-value markets, technologies, and monetization strategies.

The Auction team serves as an expert hub for auction expertise, focusing on Renewables auctions (CFD and Lease), with future scope including Hydrogen and Electrolyser auctions. This role applies game theory to optimize bidding behaviors at both project-specific and broader levels.

You will join a dynamic, international team with diverse stakeholders across RWE’s core business areas.

• Support the development of bidding strategies by analyzing auction mechanisms with a focus on game theory and optimal bidding behavior.
• Provide assessments and recommendations regarding auction mechanisms for regulatory interactions and their impact on RWE projects and bidding strategies.
• Enhance RWE’s auction analysis tools and frameworks, ensuring consistency and bid strategy support across all technologies and markets.
• Develop statistical metrics to measure and improve auction forecast accuracy.
• Assist strategy departments by evaluating market attractiveness and auction regimes.

Minimum qualifications:

• Degree in an analytical or numerical field such as Economics, Finance, Engineering, Statistics, or Mathematics.
• Knowledge of game theory and/or experience with auction processes.
• Professional experience in the energy sector, auction modeling, or related fields.
• Ability to analyze complex topics and present clear solutions to diverse stakeholders, including senior management, both written and verbally.
• Proficiency in programming and/or advanced Microsoft Excel skills, with experience in numerical modeling or data processing (e.g., Python).
• Strong communication skills and ability to build relationships with business partners and external stakeholders.
• Proactive, entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to identify opportunities and propose solutions independently.
• Enthusiasm for learning, technical innovation, and out-of-the-box thinking.
