What You Can Expect

We will soon establish a separate company within our Agricultural Solutions division, offering permanent employment to our employees. During the transition, you will be employed by BASF SE on a temporary basis with a guaranteed promise of permanent employment in the new company.

IP is vital for Agricultural Solutions (AP) to secure its revenue and licensing business. We are seeking a Head of IP Operations to lead our global, multi-tiered IP Operations team within AP’s newly created IP unit.

Role Responsibilities

1. Manage the local disciplinary and global operational aspects of AP's IP backbone.
2. Oversee the global operations of all IP clerks (paralegals and administrative staff) across locations in the USA, Ghent, Nunhems, Limburgerhof, coordinating with patent attorneys worldwide.
3. Manage the central IP management system (IPMS), including quality assurance, global interface management, legal updates, and digital process innovation.
4. Coordinate with global patent offices, internal and external IP service providers, and IP law firms to optimize processes.
5. Ensure quality management of all IP processes, develop KPIs, analysis, reporting tools, and oversee procurement of IP legal and IT services.

What You Offer

• Qualification as patent attorney or equivalent, with at least 8 years of IP experience and 5 years in a leadership role.
• Experience in optimizing IP management systems like Anaquas IPMS, including AI tools and service providers.
• Strong analytical skills regarding legal regulations, stakeholder communication, and implementation of necessary actions.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, with a focus on building relationships within the global IP community and an entrepreneurial mindset.
