What this job can offer you
We are looking for a highly experienced Payroll Lead to join our team. Our ideal candidate will have experience in regional/global payroll operations, including a deep understanding of wage tax laws and social security regulations in at least one country. Proven track record in identifying payroll compliance risks and implementing controls.
What you bring

- Experience of liaising with the local tax authorities
- Demonstrated capability in handling complex, compliance-heavy tasks, leveraging analytical skills for effective problem-solving.
- Experience in making recommendations for process improvements and ensuring that they are implemented
- Strong sense of accountability and ownership, with a proven ability to collaborate effectively and drive results in a team-oriented environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills that ensure the individual can engage effectively with Senior stakeholders
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience working on payroll systems and services in a multi-product, high-growth scale-up company
- Proficiency in data manipulation (eg sql, excel, sheets)
- Excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, international work environment with a passion for making an impact.
- You understand the need and ideal to work largely asynchronously.
- It's not required to have experience working remotely, but it is considered a plus.
- You write and speak fluent English.

Key Responsibilities
- Risk and Compliance: Conduct comprehensive risk reviews of payroll files to verify accuracy and compliance with all governmental wage tax laws (federal, state and local) and social security requirements. Identify and rectify discrepancies, underpayments, or overpayments, and recommend corrective actions. Build and maintain the future of payroll with Remote product, engineer and operations teams.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare detailed audit findings reports, highlighting areas of concern and recommending improvements to payroll processes. Maintain strong records of audits performed, methodologies used, and the resolution of identified issues.
- Provide support and training on compliance matters to payroll staff.
- Risk Management: Identify potential compliance risks and develop strategies to mitigate them. Actively anticipate future legislative changes and contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that enhance payroll compliance. Manage all proprietary payroll software training resources, including quick start guides.
- Maintain frequent communication with stakeholders
- Coordinate with remote internal teams to facilitate testing and integration of recommendations.
- Work closely with remote teams, including Product, Engineering, Tax and Accounting to develop Payroll solutions through proprietary software.
- Identify solutions to challenges, inconsistencies, and obstacles by collaborating with necessary stakeholders.
