Genomics Core Facility

at Helmholtz Munich is recruiting a highly motivated lab technician (f/m/x) to join our team of experienced scientists. You will mainly be involved in high thoughput whole genome library preparation and sequencing (WGS) and will have the opportunity to support various R&D projects for internal and external users, and will work closely with other team members to ensure the timely and effective completion of projects.

Your tasks

  • Handling sample submissions and quality control of DNA samples for WGS
  • Preparation of libraries for WGS (manually and/or with liquid handling robots)
  • Operation of Illumina sequencing machines
  • Troubleshooting of technical problems in the sample preparation and sequencing workflows
  • Support the seamless operation of the core (e.g., ordering, regular instrument QC, supply management)

Your profile

  • Technical university degree, e.g. in biology/biotechnology or similar subjects (B.Sc.), or completed training as an MTA/ BTA/ CTA (biology lab technician) with equivalent skills and substantial professional experience
  • Wet-lab experience and strong molecular biology lab skills
  • Prior hands-on experience with next-generation sequencing technologies and library preparation methods including WGS library prep is a must. Training on robotics and Illumina sequencing instrumentation will be provided when necessary.
  • Experience working with MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
  • Team player a proactive mindset, able to work in an international environment
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in English and German

If you fulfill all the requirements, you may be eligible for a salary grade of up to E 11. Social benefits are based on the Collective Wage Agreement for Public-Sector Employees (TVöD). This position is for a fixed term of 1 year.
