We are looking for a dynamic, curious, motivated, and self-starting Senior Sales Engineer to join our growing team in Germany. The Senior SE is responsible for pre-sales technical engagements with our customers, delivering compelling presentations, building aligned network designs, and translating technical concepts into simple business language while reinforcing the Calix value proposition. In this role, you will interact with and influence senior technical staff and business management within Calix’s broadband service provider customers. You will demonstrate Calix’s product capabilities and assist with lab and field trials. The ideal candidate has a strong technical background, experience in a pre-sales role, and confidence in both technical and business forums.

Responsibilities:

  • Position and sell Calix networking products and solutions
  • Assist in preparing RFx responses
  • Deliver technical sales presentations to customer technical staff and senior management
  • Understand business requirements related to technical account strategy
  • Assist customers and resellers in configuring and testing products and networks in lab and field trials
  • Provide leadership and guidance on technical and operational issues within areas of expertise
  • Design and architect network solutions tailored to customer needs
  • Deep understanding of the product portfolio to recommend optimal solutions
  • Influence decisions and simplify complex Calix technology concepts
  • Stay updated on industry standards and trends
  • Capture and communicate customer requirements to Calix Product Management
  • Travel up to 50% within the region to support customer engagements

Qualifications:

  • MSc/BSEE/BSCS preferred
  • Experience with Layer 2 and Layer 3 Access network architectures
  • Experience with FTTx Fiber-based Access solutions
  • Knowledge of WAN services, PON, and Ethernet architectures
  • Familiarity with routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, ISIS), transport functions (L2/3 VPN), and subscriber management/BNG
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex L2/L3 deployment issues
  • Understanding of SaaS and SDN technologies
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams on product improvements, training, testing, and demos
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate complex issues effectively
  • Excellent presentation and written communication skills

Additional Considerations:

  • Experience in the Broadband Service Provider industry in Germany, Austria, and Switzerland
  • Knowledge of operational support systems and API interactions (REST/JSON)
  • Understanding of network security methods including ACLs, firewalls, VPNs
  • Knowledge of network management and orchestration platforms
  • Technical familiarity with Wi-Fi systems

Location:

  • Remote-based position covering DACH (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), preferably based in Germany.
