Summary
Designs, develops, and tests process control system applications utilizing Programmable Logic Controllers, Human Machine Interfaces, and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition systems.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Includes the following: other duties may be assigned.
- Responsible for designing, developing, and testing all hardware and software process control systems.
- Programs industrial control systems.
- Provides consultation on manufacturing and processing projects.
- Analyzes and reduces scrap to increase efficiencies.
- Prepares detailed drawings and coordinates building of prototype products and testing.
- Writes and implements maintenance procedures; performs maintenance as required.
- Performs tasks utilizing electrical engineering concepts, practices, and procedures.
- Resolves project-related problems by collaborating with vendors, customers, shop personnel, and others.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Typically acquired through:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from a four-year college or university, technical or vocational school.
- Three to seven years of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business periodicals, journals, technical procedures, or regulations.
- Proficiency in writing reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
- Effective presentation skills and responsiveness to questions from managers, clients, and employees.
- Mathematical skills including frequency distribution, test reliability, analysis of variance, and correlation techniques.
- Problem definition, data collection, and conclusion drawing skills.
- Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables.

Physical Demands
Regularly requires sitting, standing, talking, hearing, walking, and using hands for handling objects. May occasionally lift/move 10-25 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.
Work Environment
Involves working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to fumes, airborne particles, electrical shock risk, and vibration. Noise level is usually moderate; travel is less than 5%.
Salary Range
$100,000 - $175,000 (depends on experience level I, II, or III).
