Job Description

We are seeking a Data Scientist - Customer Logistics, Choice to join our Logistics Team at Delivery Hero in Berlin. Your role will involve tackling high-impact challenges to improve last-mile delivery efficiency, affordability, and sustainability, directly enhancing the experience for riders, customers, and merchants across our global markets.

The Customer Logistics tribe focuses on building products that enable local brands to operate efficiently and deliver delightful order experiences, encouraging repeat business. The team comprises analysts, engineers, and scientists working together to deliver data-driven solutions across all of Delivery Hero’s 70+ markets.

Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement statistical, machine learning, and optimization models for choice optimization, rider fleet management, travel time prediction, and demand control. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve model performance.
2. Analyze large-scale datasets to identify opportunities and deploy advanced statistical techniques to enhance decision-making.
3. Engage in research to explore emerging trends in machine learning and data science, contributing to the advancement of our digital products and algorithms. Incorporate industry best practices into workflows.

Qualifications

1. Proficiency in modeling business problems using machine learning, including feature engineering, model selection, evaluation, and optimization.
2. Expertise in building and training machine learning models with Python (Pandas, SQL, Sklearn, PySpark).
3. Strong SQL skills for data exploration and support of machine learning solutions.
4. Experience writing clean, production-level code and using version control (Git).
5. Familiarity with cloud systems, preferably GCP and BigQuery.
6. Critical thinking, creativity, team collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Nice to Have

• Experience with large-scale optimization problems (linear or mixed-integer programming).
• Hands-on experience with causal modeling and deployment.
• Experience designing and analyzing advanced product experiments (A/B tests, quasi-experiments).
• Background in logistics product development.
