Munich Re’s Natural Resources Fac team continues to strengthen its footprint in the worldwide energy industry by enabling and partnering with our clients to implement the energy transition. An opportunity has emerged for an underwriter in our Munich office. This role involves managing worldwide clients active in onshore downstream energy, oil & gas, petrochemical, and chemical sectors, with an emphasis on profitable underwriting and risk assessment of developing technologies such as hydrogen production and other clean tech solutions.
Be part of the collaboration between our international offices and the Munich headquarters, driving professional underwriting of facultative reinsurance business.

• Profitable underwriting of global onshore energy business, including ESG considerations, within designated authority.
• Pricing and acceptance of large, complex energy risks.
• Controlling accumulation risks, including natural hazards.
• Ensuring compliance with group-wide guidelines.
• Negotiating with cedents and reinsurance brokers.
• Developing and maintaining client and broker relationships.
• Assisting with portfolio analysis and reporting.
• Contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications include:

• University degree in engineering, applied sciences, or recognized insurance qualification.
• Experience as an underwriter or practical engineering experience.
• Knowledge of risk assessment, pricing, and contract analysis.
• Ability to learn new occupancies and technologies.
• Strong negotiation and sales skills.
• Responsibility, motivation, and independence.
• Excellent social and coordination skills for international teamwork.
