Role Overview
In this role, you will work within a multi-functional environment to achieve our technical and schedule objectives. You will improve our team by enhancing designs, providing new insights into structural analyses, and influencing technical decisions across multiple ongoing projects.
Tasks
- Aid in defining project scope in agreement with stakeholders.
- Interact with project partners (internal and external) to optimize designs and interfaces.
- Develop constructive solutions with internal departments, clients, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Provide results tailored to business needs.
- Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations.
- Construct complex Finite Element Models for structural evaluations: modal, dynamic (sine, random), thermal, etc.
- Simulate mechanically and thermally loaded components in ANSYS (APDL and Workbench) and/or Siemens FEMAP (NASTRAN) for space applications.
- Detail assumptions and limitations of analysis techniques.
- Develop and optimize simulations via scripting and GUI.
- Interpret and evaluate simulation results.
- Balance model simplicity and accuracy.
- Support analysis results with hand calculations, scripting, and spreadsheets.
- Ensure simulation results meet design requirements.
Requirements
- M.Sc. or PhD in structural/mechanical engineering or similar.
- 3+ years’ experience in structural analysis within a professional engineering environment, preferably in the space sector and European space sector.
- Excellent English skills (oral and written); German is a plus.
- Extensive experience with ANSYS APDL/Mechanical, FEMAP, NASTRAN; other software is beneficial.
- Experience with scripting languages such as Python, MATLAB/Octave, or FORTRAN.
- Strong hand-calculation and Excel analysis skills to support FEA results.
- Experience with Git version control.
- Ability to work under tight deadlines, manage time effectively, and handle demanding projects.
- Quick learner with initiative to understand complex designs.
- Comfortable with complex simulation models.
- Analytical, solution-oriented, team player with excellent communication skills and ability to interface with partners.
- Eligible to work in the EU without restrictions.
Familiarity with nonlinear finite element analysis and ESA and ECSS standards is highly desirable.
