About the role:
Join a truly global legal team with colleagues based in the US, UK, Germany, China, and Australia to help find legal solutions for our business. You will address legal questions from all lines of business, covering media law, copyright law (including AI topics), competition law, trademark law, IP law, consumer law, compliance, employment, and corporate law, ensuring that all inquiries are handled with expertise and precision. Your role will involve drafting legal documents, including contracts, letters, memos, and processes/guidelines, and guiding the business through legal disputes and contract negotiations. Additionally, you will support our Legal Department by conducting research and preparing documents. Depending on your experience and interests, you can shape the tasks you work on.
What we look for:
We seek a candidate who has successfully passed the first state examination in law and is interested in joining Wiley during their legal clerkship (Referendariat). You should be eager to experience challenging and varied tasks in a legal department during your clerkship. Ideally, you have some experience with copyright law and other IP matters. Strong analytical skills, good self-organization, independence, high commitment, and a “hands-on” mentality are essential. Good communication skills and proficiency in English are required, as most internal communication is in English. You will be mentored by experienced colleagues and supported by a great team during your stage at Wiley. Please note, no additional payment is provided for this role.
