One focus area of the Amazon Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) mission is to provide tools, resources, and environments that support safe, efficient, and healthy behaviors and encourage employees to proactively manage their health and wellbeing. To support this focus area, Amazon is seeking an experienced Safety Engineer to join the Safety Engineering team supporting International Operations.

Key job responsibilities

The individual will play a critical role to ensure high standards of safety are built into systems and processes across new and legacy Fulfillment Centers, Sort Centers, and Delivery Stations outside of North America. The successful candidate will validate vendor proposed technical safety solutions and work in partnership with internal engineering and reliability maintenance teams to ensure right first time, legally compliant safety standards for equipment. The role will be filled by an experienced Safety-Risk Manager with detailed technical knowledge of EU machinery safety regulations and best practice engineering and procedural controls to reduce risk to operators and maintainers. Knowledge of robotics and automated conveyor systems will also be essential to support the procurement and implementation of systems across the network. Emphasis will be on technical knowledge and the ability to engage with cross-functional teams, transforming this knowledge into sound, compliant processes.

The responsibilities include:

1. Supporting a wide range of projects, heavily involved in the Capital Approval Review process, including liaison with Engineering, Reliability, Maintenance Engineering, Operations, Procurement, and New Build / Real Estate teams to deliver safety standards.
2. Defining and updating technical standards for machinery safety and process controls, working closely with EU and North American experts.
3. Providing functional links with critical teams including Engineering, Reliability, Maintenance, Procurement, and Operations.
4. Supporting procurement, building design, specification, and launch processes to ensure safety outcomes.
5. Supporting delivery of central health and safety objectives.
6. Providing expert input to change projects, build outs, and development projects, acting as a machinery safety expert for the EU team.
7. Generating technical updates and reports on projects, risks, and status.
8. Supporting business change through influencing change management processes.
9. Performing machinery inspections, risk assessments, and mentoring team members.
10. Developing solutions that meet Amazon's high standards for safety, risk reduction, efficiency, and operational excellence.
11. Training personnel on safety policies and standards.
12. Innovating industry practices for machinery safety, inspection techniques, and risk reduction.
13. Providing awareness and targeted training to influence operational decisions.

Grundqualifikationen

• Knowledge of Microsoft Office at an advanced level
• Bachelor degree or equivalent as per European Qualifications Framework (EQF)
• Extensive experience in Safety Engineering risk management, focusing on machinery safety to EU standards and directives

Bevorzugte Qualifikationen

• Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent
• Experience with lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies
• Master's degree or equivalent
• Certifications such as CMSE, FS Engineer (IEC 61508)
